Argentine motorsports adds a new milestone with the presence of Baltazar Leguizamón in the NASCAR Xfinity Series. At 24 years old, the driver from Capitán Sarmiento is preparing for a challenge that will mark his sports career: he will race in the third date of the category at the Circuit of the Americas, in Austin, Texas, on March 1, 2025.

Leguizamón was born on August 11, 2000 in Arrecifes and from an early age he demonstrated his passion and talent for motorsports. At 15 years old he traveled to Indianapolis to try his luck and achieved notable results: he was crowned champion of the Atlantic and was runner-up in the F3. He also competed in the South American Formula 4, Formula 3 and Formula Atlantic, consolidating an international career that took him to various circuits.

In Argentina, the young driver accumulated experience in renowned categories such as Top Race (Series and V6), TC Mouras, TC2000 and TC Pista. Currently, he also participates in Turismo Carretera with his father, Alejandro Leguizamón, who also had his career in motorsports.

The jump to NASCAR

2025 marks a before and after in the career of Leguizamón, who was confirmed to run a date in the opening round of the most important category of American motorsports. Aboard a Chevrolet Camaro from the Joey Gase Motorsports team, the Arrecife native will have the opportunity to demonstrate his talent in one of the most challenging competitions in the world.

This will not be his first foray into the Xfinity Series, since in 2023 he tried to qualify in a race on the same Texas circuit, although he did not manage to advance to the main event. Now, with more experience and determination, he will seek to consolidate his name in American motorsports.
A promising future

“The truth is that I really want to land in Nasca as the first Argentine in history. Having had several previous experiences, several years that I was there since I was very young, from the age of 15, fighting for it, doing at that time what was the path to Formula 1. Then there was the possibility of following the path to Indi. The pandemic issue, the economic issue did not help and I came to Argentina,” recalled the pilot about his beginnings in the program Música de Motores.

“But the experience here in cars with roofs and the experience in the United States, helped me to get the license for Nascar and today we are facing this project that is crazy, I never imagined that I would get there,” he added.

According to the athlete, this opportunity is the result of what his sports career in the United States has been and the contacts that he was left with in the environment. “Today the doors opened for me in Nascarm akgl totally new for me. Today I have already defined the car to go to run the first race in Texas on March 1,” Leguizamón detailed.

Beyond motorsports, Leguizamón has also made his way into the agricultural sector. He is a producer of agricultural insurance and a distributor of inputs for field production, an activity that allows him to sustain his sports career. “I made very good relationships with companies in the sector and, based on that, I opened an agronomy business with which I sell these products to maintain the motorsports project,” explained the driver.

Although for the moment his participation in the Xfinity Series is confirmed only for the Austin race, there is the possibility that he will be part of a part-time program in the category. This challenge represents a great opportunity for the Argentine driver, who continues to pursue his dream of competing at the highest level of world motorsports.

Baltazar Leguizamón continues to write his own story, showing that Argentine talent has a place on international tracks. His participation in NASCAR is one more step in his promising career and an inspiration for future generations of drivers in the country.
