He was subdued by local merchants after stealing a chain from a woman in Castelar. The young man is in custody.
Just meters from the Castelar station on the Sarmiento Train, a group of merchants and neighbors caught a thief after he robbed a woman. After they subdued him on the sidewalk, they tied his hands and feet to hand him over to the police.
Although the incident took place last Friday afternoon on Almafuerte Street, between Hipólito Yrigoyen and Buenos Aires Streets, the images went viral on social media in recent hours. The thief stole a chain from a woman who was walking in the area and tried to steal her purse.
Upon noticing the situation, the neighbors decided to intervene and arrest the offender and hand him over to the police. What caused the community the most outrage was that the thief laughed in their faces, and they began to insult him.
“Are you even laughing? Do you know what a kick I’d give you in the mouth?” a neighbor yelled. “That little rat isn’t coming back here anymore,” another man said, while a woman said, “What kick? We have to kill this filth because this filth will come out the next day. Did you take a picture of this kid to publish it properly?”
