The mayor of La Matanza and president of the Argentine Federation of Municipalities, Fernando Espinoza, received the Chief of the Buenos Aires Police, Javier Villar, in his office to analyze the dynamics of the crime map and take concrete measures to strengthen the fight against crime in the district.
During the meeting, the importance of investment in technology and equipment in terms of security in La Matanza was highlighted. In this regard, Fernando Espinoza stressed: “The historic investment we have been making in state-of-the-art infrastructure, coordinated from the Municipal Operations and Monitoring Center (COM) and in close relationship with the police, increases arrests and improves prevention mechanisms.”
At the meeting, concrete actions were coordinated with the Chief of the Buenos Aires Police, Javier Villar, aimed at intensifying patrol operations in the district and optimizing coordination with the COM.
In addition, the mayor warned about the negative impact generated by the withdrawal of resources by the National Government and its effect on the security of the Province of Buenos Aires: “(Javier) Milei took from us a year ago the Security Fund of the Province of Buenos Aires for 749 billion, which represents 1,800 fewer patrol cars on the streets of Buenos Aires.”
Despite this scenario, the mayor highlighted the local effort to strengthen security: “We increased by 50% the devices that make up our entire prevention network, including facial recognition cameras, neighborhood alarms, emergency totems, safe stops and the contribution of Police and Urban Guard personnel and vehicles.”
Finally, Fernando Espinoza reaffirmed his commitment to continue demanding the resources allocated to security that the National Government took away from the people of Buenos Aires: “While Milei continues to govern for the richest and abandoning the middle class and the workers, we in La Matanza together with the Province of Buenos Aires, will continue to demand that the funds that belong to us be returned to improve prevention, because the security of our neighbors is truly a priority.”
