The works are in their second stage more than three years after they began and seek to improve the quality of circulation for 22 thousand vehicles per day.
The Road Directorate of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Public Services of the Province of Buenos Aires reported that it continues to advance “at a good pace” with the expansion of Provincial Route number 24 (Presidente Hipólito Yrigoyen Avenue) in the town of Cuartel V and north of the Moreno district, which began in September 2021.
This intervention consists of the duplication of the roadway in both directions, the stabilization of the shoulders and the construction of bays for turning and stopping movements of public transport, in addition to the installation of LED type lights and storm drains and comprehensive horizontal demarcation tasks and vertical and aerial signage.
The works are currently in their second stage of execution and extend between the intersections with the roundabouts of Darwin Passaponti Avenue (Route 24) and Derqui/Saavedra Lamas on the borders with the cities of Francisco Álvarez and José C. Paz, respectively.
However, it is worth clarifying that private and heavy vehicles can already use several complete sections of the road that were completed since the works are carried out in a sectorized and not total manner. It is estimated that around 22 vehicles travel through that area per day.
The word of the provincial government and when the work would be finished
“The expansion of this route is very important due to the high volume of traffic that circulates there and, once finished, it will have a very positive impact on the entire community. In the province of Buenos Aires, the machines are still in operation, improving road safety for residents,” said the head of the Buenos Aires Highway Department, Roberto Caggiano.
It should be remembered that this intervention was scheduled to be completed at the end of 2024 according to the estimates of the provincial authorities, but that ultimately the deadline was not met and it is about to complete four years of duration.
