The discovery was made by a motorist at the roundabout of Cervantes and Echeverría streets, in front of the Río de la Plata. They are investigating what happened, in the middle of a succession of similar events detected throughout the Province.
A motorist who was driving through the Quilmes riverside area could not believe what he discovered almost in full view of everyone. Such was the horror he felt that he immediately notified the authorities about the presence of what he had found. Upon arrival, the Buenos Aires Police came across an aberrant image: 17 human skulls.
The discovery made at the roundabout of Cervantes and Echeverría streets shook everyone, neighbors and visitors of that busy Quilmes riverside area. So far, it has been confirmed that the bone remains belong to human skulls and, although it is presumed that they could be of considerable age, their exact origin and how they got there are still unknown.
So far, the experts are considering several hypotheses. First, they do not rule out that they belong to archaeological remains, which may have been there because they were moved from another site. Another is related to the fact that it is a criminal act, which given the number of skulls found could generate a huge stir at all levels.
Finally, the authorities raised the possibility that they belong to victims of the last civil-military dictatorship, where one of the known aberrant acts was the throwing of kidnapped and tortured people into the River Plate.
After confirming the presence of the skulls, the officers secured the scene and notified the Functional Investigation Unit (UFI) No. 5 of Quilmes, which ordered an investigation to begin and summon the Police.
