The La Matanza officer was on leave and in civilian clothes when he was surprised by two motorcycle thieves in General San Martín.
A tragic event took place during the early hours of Monday in the town of San Andrés, General San Martín district, when a police officer from the Local Police of La Matanza, who was on leave and in civilian clothes, was killed with a shot in the head by two motorcycle thieves who stole his motorcycle.
The victim, identified as Oscar Alfredo Terraza, 39 years old, had arrived at Islas Malvinas street, between José C. Paz and Congreso, with his girlfriend to visit a relative. At that moment, the couple was surprised by two armed criminals who intercepted them and demanded that they hand over the motorcycle.
Faced with this situation, the officer tried to resist the robbery and a fierce shootout broke out, and one of the shots hit the victim’s head, leaving him seriously injured. For their part, the motorcycle thieves quickly fled the scene with the motorcycle, while Oscar’s girlfriend was unharmed.
Although the police car immediately went to the scene and transferred the police officer to the Eva Perón Hospital, the medical efforts were not enough and the officer died minutes after entering the hospital.
The crime scene was marked by high-caliber spent shells, which account for the shooting, since the bullets also hit the vehicles that were parked and nearby homes. The case was handled by the San Martín 1 Police Station of the UFI N°3 of the San Martín Judicial Department, who are working to identify and find the criminals.
