The Municipality and Human Rights Organizations held the traditional and emotional update of the Grandchildren Count, in Plaza San Martín.

Family members of detained/disappeared people also participated; former detainees and survivors; Human Rights organizations such as the Association I Will Be for Memory and Life and HIJOS Gran Morón-Ituzaingó-Hurlingham, among others; the Human Rights Coordinator, Aimé Ereñú; authorities of the executive department; councilors; neighbors.

The 138th Grandchild is the grandson of Rosa Pourtalé and son of Marta Enriqueta Pourtalé and Juan Carlos Villamayor, kidnapped in December 1976. He was born during his mother’s captivity in the ESMA and has been sought by his family ever since. On Friday, December 27, the Abuelas de Plaza de Mayo announced their restitution.

With each recovered grandchild, the Municipality updates the numbers on the “Cuenta Nietos” monument. It was inaugurated in March 2019 and is part of the public Memory policy carried out by the municipality.

Through the Human Rights Directorate, with the aim of keeping alive the demand for justice and the memory of the neighbors who disappeared during the last civil-military dictatorship.
