After a few days of negotiations, offers and counteroffers, Vélez and Guillermo Barros Schelotto reached an agreement for the Mellizo to take the reins of the club and be the successor of Sebastián Domínguez. Although not too many details were revealed, the truth is that the parties reached a two-year agreement for Barros Schelotto to land in Liniers with his brother, Gustavo. As for the rest of the coaching staff, it has not yet been confirmed. In any case, the agreement is complete and only the signatures of the parties are missing.
The agreement was reached after a day of offers and counteroffers, after what was the meeting last Tuesday between the coach and the club’s management, in which the former striker was seduced by the sporting project. From the very beginning, Barros Schelotto showed himself willing to join the club and return to coach in the country, with the Copa Libertadores on the horizon.
The truth is that, lacking details, the first reports indicate that the coach set as conditions a fairly high salary, having influence in the transfer markets and an incorporation of hierarchy by line in the June window. After a day of intense negotiations, the parties reached an agreement and the conditions were accepted.
