On Friday 21st, in intense heat, with a temperature of 40 degrees, the assembly of municipal health workers was held in the Central Plaza of the city of San Justo, in front of the municipal building. The workers have been in a process of struggle for several weeks with assemblies and strikes in the different hospitals and health centers for an emergency wage increase and other demands.

Municipal workers fighting for a decent wage.
A huge banner with the slogan “Municipal workers fighting for a decent wage now” covered the top of the Central Polyclinic building and in the plaza, another with the legend “Matanza Salud”, around which the assembly was held.
Workers from the Central Polyclinic, from the Equiza, Posadas, Paroissien Hospitals, the Respiratory Center, health rooms, patients from CEMEFIR, CICOP-Matanza, organizations of retirees such as the Rebel Municipal Retirees of La Matanza, Insurgentes Retirees, Plenary of Retired Workers, Miguel Feniello, Deputy Secretary of SiTEMLaM, MTR-Cuba, among others, were present. Also part of the assembly were councilors Olga Ortigoza and Leonardo Portorreal of the Socialist Left, members of the FIT-Unidad bench.
The NCO present at the Assembly spoke with Hugo Pollola, General Secretary of the local CICOP Section and member of the “Salvador Mazza” National Health Current.
Hugo, tell us the reasons for this call. This assembly is part of the assembly process that we municipal workers have been having in different places, such as those of 4 municipal hospitals, 24-hour centers that organized themselves, and continued holding assemblies in the street; the workers of the Equiza Hospital in González Catán do the same.
This movement of municipal workers goes in the direction of recovering a salary that is absolutely depressed, rights that are not contemplated in this municipality, such as leave for stress, the elimination of the black part of the salary receipt that is around 60%, attendance; all of this is not received by our retirees when they give us an increase to the active ones.
Regarding the salary, what is the claim?
We are requesting an emergency increase of 300 thousand pesos to the base, given that on the one hand it raises all the white salary, it generates a general escalation of municipal salaries. Until now the municipality has not taken up the gauntlet to give a response.
From the CICOP section we have been working with the Secretary of Health, with the secretary, Dr. Collia, comparing the salary scales of Morón and the province of Buenos Aires with which we want to be on par, since there are abysmal differences with the health salaries of the municipality of La Matanza.
