In the context of an investigation overseen by the Ministry of National Security, federal officers from the Public Health Crimes Division arrested two men in the province of Buenos Aires accused of sexually abusing a minor.
The case arose when the victim, upon reaching the age of majority, filed a criminal complaint in which she claimed to have been abused during her childhood by her then-stepfather. The events occurred in the family home located in the Buenos Aires town of Gregorio de Laferrere, between 2010 and 2012 and at a time when the victim was 5 and 6 years old.
According to the testimony, the abuse occurred while the minor was in the custody of the subject, who, by means of repeated death threats, managed to remain unpunished and avoid any accusation against him, thus forcing her to remain silent and to carry out different sexual practices.
However, in 2016 and 2017 and in the context of a family move to another home located in the neighboring town of La Tablada, the minor was again abused, this time by the aggressor’s son.
At the end of January of this year and once the respective complaint had been made, the Specialized Functional Investigation and Trial Unit for Family and Gender Violence and Crimes Against Sexual Integrity No. 1 of the La Matanza Judicial Department, headed by Dr. Pamela Piatelli, called the aforementioned Division of the PFA with the objective of locating and subsequently apprehending the individuals.
It was thus that through various field and intelligence tasks, federal agents identified the whereabouts of those sought. Therefore, and with the consent of the Court of Guarantees No. 3 of La Matanza, in charge of Dr. Rubén Norberto Ochipinti, the uniformed officers achieved their arrests, both on public roads, on García Merou (Gregorio de Laferrere) and Riglos (González Catán) streets respectively.
The detainees, of legal age (one of them of Bolivian nationality), were placed at the disposal of the magistrate for the crime of “Seriously outrageous sexual abuse for having been committed against a minor under 18 years of age, taking advantage of the situation of cohabitation and for having been committed by the person in charge of the guard, in ideal concurrence with aggravated corruption of a minor.”
