The José Equiza Maternal and Child Hospital, located in González Catán, added two new LINET AVE 2 delivery beds in its obstetrics area. This advance aims to improve the experience of pregnant people during the birth process, providing them with greater comfort and options that adapt to each of their needs.
The new beds allow for pre-birth, delivery and recovery to be carried out in the same room and offer, at the same time, a more comfortable and calm environment. In addition, they facilitate different positions, such as sitting or semi-sitting, to promote the well-being of women involved during labor.
This equipment also supports the first golden hour, considered the period of time that passes after the birth of a baby and is characterized by skin-to-skin contact between mother and baby, and allows the presence of a companion chosen by the patient.
A step towards respected childbirth in La Matanza
The incorporation of these beds is aligned with the principles established in Law 25,929 on Humanized Childbirth, which guarantees the rights of pregnant people and newborns before, during and after childbirth. Social works and prepaid medical entities are also involved in this regulation, since they are required to offer services that respect these aforementioned guarantees.
The objective of the law is to promote an environment of respect for the particularities of each family, ensuring that pregnant people are informed and participate in decision-making regarding medical interventions. In addition, it protects the rights of newborns to remain with their mothers from the first moment and to receive breastfeeding without any interference or inconvenience. With these new beds, the Equiza Hospital seeks to strengthen its commitment to humanized and quality care, reaffirming its role as a benchmark in maternal and child health in the region. This innovative aspect not only improves the physical conditions of the delivery room, but also reinforces the right of pregnant people to go through this stage in a safe and respectful manner.

The crisis that the hospital is going through at the same time
While the community is hearing great news, the hospital is going through a serious crisis that affects both workers and patients. The employees held a new assembly in the public street to demand salary improvements, job stability and better working conditions.
According to the worker Juan Roa, current salaries are not enough to cover basic needs, which leads many employees to take on multiple jobs. In addition, job insecurity is extreme, with self-employed workers without access to sick leave or accident coverage, added to the lack of basic medical supplies and sufficient personnel, which even resulted in deaths due to the absence of doctors on duty.
The conflict, which has its roots in the elimination of a labor ordinance in 1996, has deepened over time. The demands include the regularization of contracted personnel and the implementation of collective bargaining to reverse years of deterioration. The situation also affects retired doctors, who face serious economic difficulties.
