Laura Aloisi. In the radio program, there was a chat with Laura Aloisi, provincial deputy for the Unión por la Patria block, who referred to the possible electoral reform with the removal of the primary elections.

At the beginning of the note, deputy Laura Aloisi emphasized the issue: “I am not so sure that Kicillof wants to eliminate the PASO, this is a project that was presented by the Frente Renovador and it is an issue that will have to be discussed and debated clearly. In fact, there had already been some talks in the annex of the Chamber of Deputies where that front promoted the explanation of the single ballot, the splitting of the elections and the elimination of the PASO as an issue that they were carrying out.”

“But there are a lot of issues, the end of the year is coming with many complex and important things and I think that, in terms of discussion both within the front and with the opposition, there is room for negotiation. I say this in this case for this project as well as for others that have to do with the budget, the fiscal law, the issue of the splitting up as well. We militants are alarmed by the issue of training prosecutors and so on,” he added.

Regarding the short times of debate, he said that “Senator Teresa García stated on some occasions that it is known that it is discussed only for this year because next year it is no longer possible” and that “there will be extraordinary sessions but there are some tools that, although they are for discussion, I understand that sometimes they take a longer and deeper time of debate than other issues that do not take so much time.”

The possibility of there being two elections in the Province

In relation to the previous issue, Aloisi expanded: “The splitting up would be to somehow prioritize what has to do with the provincial issue and the localities. And with the items of what is voted in each region. One possibility would be that the people of Buenos Aires have to vote twice, it is not proposed anyway and if it happens it has to be before December 31st.”

“These are the issues that are being discussed or heard in the different voices. In some of the talks they brought some simulators of what a single ballot would be like and the truth is that even for someone who is in charge of the exercise of the elections and what has to do with the PASO, it seems complex,” he added.

In addition, he mentioned that “it is already difficult many times to explain what has to do with the splitting of the ballot, so it is going to be a complicated militant task” and that “we have to see how the national government uses these dissemination tools that, in some cases, it does so even to confuse.”

The ballot cutting in the interior of the Province

Based on her experience in the town of Azul, where she is from, the interviewee narrated: “In 2017 we had to compete at the local level with a short ballot and within the Unidad Ciudadana front, as it was called at that time, where Cristina was on the full ballot. So many people at that time turned to the vote to regain confidence in a front that had left an orderly country in 2015, and here in the places of the interior we did almost an ‘Art-Attack’ of how to cut and explain that we support Cristina”.

“It was a kind of cut and paste so that it is understood added to the militant task of distributing the ballots”, she joked.

To close, she pointed out that “there is a bit of that culture of cutting ballots in the interior for the intended vote and in 2021 we also had a small percentage of voters at the end of the pandemic”.

“These are issues that end up favoring, in this case, the national government or these people who propose the removal of rights fundamentally,” he concluded.
