The development of the initiative
At the beginning of the conversation on No Te Duermas, Gustavo Cid emphasized the plan that they are carrying out together with the Municipality: “We are working together with the Municipality because the institution alone cannot afford such an expense but we are working with two new detachments that are defined in this plan.”
“Perhaps it is too ambitious for everyone to have a detachment per town. There are 16 and today we have 6 barracks, so we would need 10, which is a very important goal. But with that, what we would achieve is to access the emergency scenarios much faster, which would save many lives and property in the community,” he added.
He then said that “so work is being done in the Villa Celina and Ramos Mejía detachments. So those two efforts are advanced and we hope that we can soon start with those two.”
The work in Ramos Mejía
In line with the above, and in response to the question from the table, he pointed out in Ramos Mejía: “What is being done is trying to create a new detachment in Ramos. The previous people started several years ago a place that they called ‘volunteer firefighters of Villa Celina’ but they are far from all the regulations that are in force today in the Province through Civil Defense where the firefighters have training, training and certification.”
“The institutions are authorized and they are not. The Municipality and the authorities already know and they have been notified that they cannot go out to provide services because the conditions are not met,” he assured.
He also said that “we are trying to normalize this issue, we are covering in a timely manner everything that is Villa Celina from Tapiales so we are working with that objective.”
The lands in Villa Celina and the new units
On the other hand, the interviewee indicated: “There are two places that the Municipality offered us in Celina and we are studying which is the most convenient of those two in order to move forward with the construction. What we are trying to do is make several modular detachments, smaller and with the possibility of having facilities for the firefighters and with a maximum of two or three units.”
“Ours today have a lot of space, they are really important barracks and the truth is, to provide the service that is currently provided, it can be optimized with smaller places and closer to each locality,” he detailed.
He also pointed out that “we must remember what is happening today with traffic in the large towns of our district and in cities such as Ramos or San Justo” and that “these are places where it is practically impossible to get through during rush hour, so that really makes it difficult to get there quickly and that is what we are working on.”
To close, he highlighted the arrival of new units to further strengthen the service: “This past Friday we were able to deliver a new unit in Isidro Casanova. In this case it is a Mercedes Benz, a very nice one that we imported directly from Germany and they come to provide service to Detachment 2. It was a very important need in the area because it is the one that has the most services and emergencies lately. With this unit, as we have already brought two similar ones, we are covering everything that we previously requested from the neighboring fire departments. In this administration we incorporated 18 and we are turning the institution around for the better.”
