The Secretary of Production of the La Matanza district, Debora Giorgi, told the program about the opening of a new market in the town of Gregorio de Laferrere.
Giorgi, who was at the inauguration of the new market, commented that the initiative “corresponds to a policy of Fernando Espinozan on points of discounting that also includes itinerant fairs”
About which she recalled: “They have excellent prices and throughout the month they travel through 56 neighborhoods of La Matanza, you can see it on the Municipality’s website. They seek to bring not only food, but also clothing, groceries and cleaning supplies”
“And then there are the fixed markets of discounting. They are a more recent policy, two and a half years old. Fruits, vegetables, meats, bread and dry grocery items are sold there. At really very good prices,” she added.
Regarding these markets, he highlighted “the one in Rafael Castillo, in front of the Sakamoto market, in Laferrere, on the pedestrian street and in the Plaza Ejército de Los Andes, and the last one that opened its doors on August 14. It is a closed place. A supermarket oriented to basic products.”
And he added: “In meats we have the King of meat, with exquisite meat. Top quality fruit and vegetables. Bread at 1800 pesos, pasta from Villa D´agri, sodas from Manaos, everything is very Matanza-like.”
“It is a joint effort with the provincial administration.”
Then Giorgi highlighted the possibilities of the program: “It has a plus, due to joint work, and that is that it is a ‘Buenos Aires market’, that is, the Bapro discounts are available every day, you don’t have to wait until Saturday to buy meat or a special day.”
And he mentioned that “this is an agreement between our mayor and Governor Axel Kicillof and the Bapro. So if a kilo of Milanese is 3500 pesos, you end up paying 1800. It is a saving for the family. We do a very modest price survey and we see an acceleration of prices again.”
Regarding the discount percentages, the Bank of the Province of Buenos Aires establishes them monthly for certain products, for example for meat 40 percent, dairy products go up to 30.
On this point, the secretary of Production of the municipality, stressed that “in the markets of discount prices are already 50 percent less than in the nearby shops in the neighborhoods. The savings are very important.”
And she stressed: “It is a joint effort and our main objective, with Fernando at the head, is that they take advantage of it. That the neighbors line up to access the products that are of the highest quality. They are top-level brands and our people have the right to eat at the lowest possible price”
In the DNI account discount program there is a maximum reimbursement of 4000 pesos per week. However, Giorgi mentioned “since the DNI account is available to anyone over 13 years old, it can be used by mother, son, uncle and grandfather”

To continue, Giorgi, mentioned “a meeting with all the new managers of Bapro in our Municipality. There are new managers because a pending task of having the La Matanza branch of Bapro was completed. Before, it depended on Morón”
“There were businessmen, workers’ representatives, delegates and subdelegates, our councilmen and councilwomen. We involve the whole society so that they know the effort that the provincial government makes with the DNI account and that we are all a little responsible in teaching people how to use it,” she added.
“We are managing to get food bags to retirees”
Finally, the municipal official, said that
they plan, together with the Secretary of the elderly, Marisa Gril, “to create a link between the Laferrere market and retirees, either to transport them or to create a first-class bag and bring it to the retirement centers”
And she concluded that “the response from the people was very good” at the inauguration in Laferrere. “That is why we are going out to spread the word. The market is open from Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and weekends and holidays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.”
