Wilfrido Peguero Cabrera, known artistically as Wilking Love, is a romantic bachata singer-songwriter from the Dominican Republic. Since his beginnings in music, he has followed in the footsteps of great performers from his native country such as Luis Segura, José Manuel Calderón, Anthony Santos, Raulín Rodríguez and Juan Luis Guerra.
It is all due to the fact that he is the son of Francisco Peguero Santana and Alejandrina Cabrera, two lovers of the romantic genre who awakened their son’s musical interest from a very early age. After a childhood strongly linked to the compositions of the aforementioned artists, he officially began his musical career at the age of 20, creating his own musical group.
This was a duo formed by him and his brother, which was called “Wilking and Darwin”, where he made romantic urban R&B music.
The composition of his own songs
Approximately when he was 22 years old, he was inspired to compose his own songs, an attribute that gradually developed, until he became a great composer.
Thanks to the outstanding Moisés Sánchez, an award-winning and virtuoso music producer who was winner of Grammy and Sovereign awards as producer and arranger of the year, he presented his first musical proposal that he called “Antídoto”. This production highlights songs such as Pensando en ti, Llora mi alma, Consejo de hermano, Confiésame, Amor cobarde, El amor es más (one of his greatest hits) and Estrellita mensajerora, among others. These are found on all digital platforms, such as Spotify, YouTube and Apple Music.
Each of the stanzas and verses of his pieces, which are produced by himself, are a clear example of his credentials for the art and have reached different places in Latin America and the world such as Argentina, Peru, the Dominican Republic, Switzerland, Sweden, Mexico, the Canary Islands, California (United States) and Ecuador.
The versatility of his music
Wilking Love’s focus is, without a doubt, romantic bachata. His style stands out for the interpretation of songs of love and heartbreak with an intensity that easily connects with the public. His lyrics communicate deep emotions and his melodies are catchy and easy to remember.
Although he is inspired by the classics of bachata, Wilking does not close himself to what is most popular today and also incorporates modern elements to his music, which gives it a fresh and contemporary touch.
His talent gave him recognition beyond the Dominican borders, and his songs are being heard in various countries due to his charisma and authenticity. It is worth mentioning that he had the opportunity to collaborate with renowned music producers, which enriched his career and allowed him to reach a wider audience.
Over the years he has made great progress and, as he expressed in some interviews that he conducted, he hopes that the growth will be permanent in order to continue advancing in the complex musical environment.
