“No Te Duermas” spoke with Hernán Carroll and Fernando Amarilla from the group “Somos Libertarios La Matanza” about their role in the group and their connection to the attack on Cristina Kirchner.

On the three elected councilors of La Libertad Avanza; Lorena Ramos, Ricardo Lococo, and Ana María Barbetti, they explained, “We did not know them within the libertarian current, but a decision was made within the 2023 framework for them to be part of La Libertad Avanza, and today they are representatives of La Libertad Avanza in La Matanza.”
“We belong to a group with very marked libertarian tendencies. As we say, we practice neighborhood liberalism. We have been involved in grassroots activism throughout La Matanza for a long time. We did this even before Javier became a deputy,” Hernán clarified.
“When the lists were compiled, Somos Libertarios did not have representation in La Matanza; maybe in other districts or municipalities, but not in La Matanza. We were not fortunate to be considered, and the decision was made to include those who are currently in the La Matanza Deliberative Council, these three councilors.”
The Formation of the Lists
“The group had contact with provincial organizer Sebastián Pareja, who was involved in organizing Buenos Aires Province, not in La Matanza. Each district, sector, and section had its own organizer.
However, no agreement was reached in the previous elections with the organizer, which is why the candidates currently within the Libertad Avanza in the Deliberative Council were chosen. Our aspiration is based on the activism we have and the work we have been doing for libertarian ideas alongside Javier since before Javier became a deputy.”
“We were not part of the lists concerning La Matanza. I was a pre-candidate and then a candidate for councilor in 2021 with José Luis Espert, with what was Avanza Libertad. Before Javier intervened in the Province, remember that Avanza Libertad was because Javier Milei was involved in Capital. There was a small split between them, but now they are back together. Nonetheless, we are libertarians and are working to make the relationship more fluid,” Hernán argued.
“Our task is to send out invitations to La Libertad Avanza for every event and work we do, to keep them informed, knowing that we are a group, not a political party. Therefore, we want to be an integral part of La Libertad Avanza and help and collaborate with Javier Milei’s national and municipal organization, specifically in La Matanza.”
“We are the group that has grown the most because we have strong youth activism and have worked selflessly for the ideas, not just to be part of a list. Although we believe that changing the municipality requires working from within and participating,” he emphasized.
The Connection to the Attempted Murder of the Former President
Regarding this disturbing topic, Hernán Carroll explained, “We once interviewed these kids, Los Copitos, but we did not know Brenda Uriarte as such; we knew her as Ámbar. She was known on Crónica as Ámbar. We did an interview with her, and the next day, which was the birthday of Negro Almeida, a member of a new center-right group in the capital.”
“He hosted it in a bar, which was an open event, as people think it was Negro Almeida’s house, but it was a public venue with many attendees. During the commotion, with around 100 people present, we invited this girl to the birthday party. She attended for about 30 or 40 minutes the next day,” he recounted.
“He was targeted for two reasons. First, because I am the person between Javier Milei and Patricia Bullrich when they met in Plaza de Mayo before Javier became a deputy. We promoted that meeting in Plaza de Mayo. We brought Javier and Patricia together.”
“I believe one reason is that, and the other is because the prosecution found, in a chat post-attack, a lawyer who, well, justice already has, communicated with us regarding the live broadcast, asking for this girl’s phone number to represent her before she was charged, when she was still the boyfriend. I did not have her phone number because we had never had direct contact; our only contact was via Instagram,” Hernán commented.
“In fact, C5N once showed, and I have a screenshot where they said ‘people who had contacted the accused,’ which supposedly was not possible because they were isolated. The only time we saw them was at the birthday party. They also claimed I was at Javier Milei’s event at Luna Park after the elections, where a security guard pointed a gun at one of Javier’s militants while I was celebrating with Espert in another place,” he added.
“We made some jokes, some comics, because honestly, many people were worried. We had nothing to do with it, we made light of it. And we used it to make ourselves more visible as a group. In short, since we had nothing to hide, we had no problem,” Hernán concluded.
