Natalia began by saying: “I think that politically the repression of the pensioners and the subsequent veto last week, where now many are wondering what they are going to do, if you raised your hand in favor of a meager, because it must be said, it is miserable, the 15,000 pesos that the law implies. Now they are going to support the veto, terrible.”
“So there are many political analysts who are saying that as it had been at the time, in April, even a break with sectors that have voted, they trusted the Milei government, with the denial of the university budget and a march of millions. The issue of retirees, messing with the bread of retirees, messing with taking away the medicines from retirees, something that you cannot believe, is brutal. Repressing them too, be careful, because it can be another element of rupture with a government that has come to strongly attack and openly say that it defends Marcos Galperin, with whom it met yesterday,” he said.
The strength of the people is reflected in the demonstrations
“We came from not giving the relationship of strength. That is to say, the majority political forces, the union representatives, who represent thousands and millions of workers, popular sectors, also influence. Now, if you think, remember in January the CGT strike and the mobilization was very large. The calls they have made were large, but they tell you that the balance of power is not enough, but of course, if you do not call”, reflected the councilor
“The reality is that, it must also be said, at least we from the PTS, from the left, see very clearly, with the passage of these months of government measures, that it is a political strategy they have. Returning on scorched earth, the problem is that when the rights of the workers, of the popular sectors, are lost, then it is not so easy to give them back or that by some messianic art, whoever comes from the government or from above will give it back to you. It is not like that”, she added.
“So, it seems to me that the calls that were made, they have to be worked on, they have to be organized, assemblies have to be held to discuss face to face with all the workers and I think that there is no one who represents them, who ignores them or who can justify the brutality that Guillermo Francos said yesterday in the information meeting they had in the Chamber of Deputies, that it was an exaggerated thing, which is what Milei calls it, degenerate prosecutors for 15,000 pesos for retirees who can’t make ends meet,” she reflected.
The current government and the opposition
The leader highlighted: “So, the reality is that if you wait, which also generates a lot of anger, that from Peronism, for example, we saw it in the tweet of Guado de Pedro, they are tense in discussing the internal issues, and positioning themselves as candidates for the upcoming elections. There is a lot missing. So, I think that this relationship of force has to be built. I think there is a lot of anger. If you look at the data from the consulting firms, at least in the suburbs, we are in a place where there is a lot of rejection of the policies of Milei’s government, and at the same time sensitive issues such as pensions. So on the 12th I think we have to take it into our own hands, which has to be the mobilization that they are calling for with a strike, prior to assemblies all this week, and on the 20th, as you said, there will be a mobilization from Congress to Plaza de Mayo, which we hope will also be very large.”
Regarding the different political parties at the demonstration, Natalia Hernández told her experience: “Yesterday I even went on the train from Ramos Mejía with self-convened retirees, teachers, they are retirees, they saw the call and wanted to participate, and so many, but it is great that there are retirees from the left, the truth is that my retired colleagues from the left are proud, because they have also spent these weeks denouncing in the media the repression and that morality that they promote, it seems to me that it is what has to spread to these new generations, that they never give you anything, you have to go out and fight for it, and more so when you have worked all your life, you have a right and you have to defend it,” she remarked.
“I saw that it was a bit like a campaign, what the left was doing, and logically, if the left defends the sectors that are vulnerable, the workers, we are part of organizations of retirees too, how can we not be there? The question is the other way around, why are those who should be there not there? Why aren’t those representing the unions here? We’re all going to retire at some point. Why aren’t they here? The question is the other way around, isn’t it?
