A Bolivian man with a cane who lived in La Matanza was arrested after fleeing upon learning he had to serve five years in prison for the abuse he committed.

The Argentine Federal Police’s Fugitive Search Division (PFA) captured an elderly man in recent days who was hiding in the town of Rafael Castillo, south of La Matanza, after being convicted of a series of abuses against his partner’s granddaughter.

The investigation began after the 30th Criminal and Correctional Court of the Federal Capital ruled that the 64-year-old man, who is originally from the Plurinational State of Bolivia and requires a cane to walk, would serve half a decade in prison for a series of sexual abuse cases committed between July and September 2015.

However, upon learning of the sentence, the pedophile escaped, leading to an intense pursuit by the force under the Ministry of National Security, which after several days located him in the aforementioned western city.

With the corresponding court order, the officers carried out an operation in the vicinity of the targeted man and intercepted the fugitive on public streets, specifically within the Nueva Unión neighborhood, to place him at the disposal of the intervening magistrate so he could answer for his actions.

Another domestic abuser recently recaptured in La Matanza

Earlier this month, the Federal Police (PFA) also arrested a man accused of abusing his own stepdaughter, who was 13 years old at the time, in González Catán. He was a refugee in the province of Formosa.

Detectives thus began a series of extensive investigative tasks through which they were able to establish that the suspect had arrived from northern Argentina to the bus terminal in the Buenos Aires neighborhood of Liniers.

After a discreet surveillance operation at the station and a search of the Federal Police Communications System (SIFCOP) database, they arrested him.
