The Municipality of La Matanza continues to invest heavily in the works that are in progress in the district, such as the Scientific and Technological Center of Ciudad Evita and the Veterinary Hospital of Laferrere, despite the lack of resources from the national government. In this case, the large infrastructure project is linked to social and inclusive sports aimed at the entire community.
The development of the Lionel Messi Sports Center, located at kilometer 38 of National Route No. 3, in the town of Virrey del Pino represents a great advance for the southern area of La Matanza, providing a reference space for sports practice, recreation and the promotion of healthy habits
With a total area of more than 6 hectares, the new mega Lionel Messi Sports Center will be a cutting-edge complex that will include facilities for multiple disciplines, promoting social inclusion and healthy practices for the entire community.
This high-performance sports center will have different spaces designed for the development of sports and recreational activities, among which the following stand out: the multi-purpose building, which will be the central space of the complex for various disciplines; the administrative building, where all the activities of the sports center will be managed and advice will be provided to the neighbors; the multi-purpose and weight training building, for the development of fitness activities, muscle training and other complementary activities; the open-air pool, a 30 by 20 meter pool, suitable for swimming, water sports and summer camp activities; the 11-a-side football field, with a regulation-sized playing field; the athletics track; the professional hockey field; among other spaces.
Currently, the work is advancing with strong progress, as a result of the great effort made by the local government for the continuity of the infrastructure projects in progress. The Lionel Messi Sports Centre already has its administrative building, the building for weight training and multiple uses, the changing rooms for the swimming pool and the football field, the swimming pool and its machine room; and the construction of the central building and the levelling of the land where the athletics track will be located has already begun.
La Matanza is the National Capital of Social Sport because it brings and encourages sports practices to the entire community, as a policy of access, inclusion, generating opportunities and a better quality of life for all girls, boys, young people and adults and the elderly. “All the work we have been doing in terms of sport and care for our people is now materialized in this important, beautiful and modern site, which changes the south of the district forever; and the quality of the projects thought out and developed in this administration is notably noteworthy, with the aim of achieving the real well-being of our neighbours in La Matanza,” said Mayor Fernando Espinoza.
