An attempted robbery in San Justo, La Matanza district, ended in tragedy this Wednesday, when a bus driver on line 174 foiled the theft of a car. The criminals shot at the vehicle in retaliation, fatally wounding a passenger who was traveling with her daughters.
The victim, identified as Hilda Tello, 45, was sitting in the last row of the bus with her two minor daughters. According to witnesses, the driver, Cristian Paz, noticed that a group of four criminals were trying to steal a car parked on a corner. To prevent the robbery, he cornered the thieves with the bus, forcing them to desist and flee. However, before escaping, the criminals fired at the vehicle, hitting Tello with a fatal shot.
The driver did not stop after the attack and drove directly to the San Francisco Clinic, where doctors confirmed that Tello had died almost instantly. Another passenger was slightly injured due to the sudden movement of the bus at the time of the confrontation.
The tragic episode was partially recorded in a video that quickly went viral on social media, showing the moment when the bus corners the criminals. The Fiscal Unit for the Investigation of Homicides of La Matanza is in charge of the case and is working to identify those responsible.
Police operations after the attack
During the night of Wednesday and early Thursday morning, police officers carried out a series of raids in different areas of the La Matanza district in search of the perpetrators of the attack. According to police sources, the procedures were carried out in neighborhoods considered to be conflictive, where gangs dedicated to stealing vehicles usually operate.
Although no arrests related to the case have been reported so far, investigators are analyzing the viral video and other security cameras in the area to identify the criminals. In addition, statements are being taken from witnesses and possible links with other recent criminal acts in the area are being reviewed.
Tamara, a passenger who was sitting next to the victim, gave a heartbreaking testimony in television statements: “It was a few seconds in which the bullet impacts were heard. I saw the girl lying on the seat, completely unconscious. The most terrible thing was hearing the girls scream ‘mom, mom, wake up.'”
