The management of Racing has sent a new offer for Ignacio Rodríguez, the winger from Banfield that Gustavo Costas has requested to reinforce the team’s attack. The formal proposal is $1,200,000 for 50% of the player’s rights, and now Banfield must decide whether to accept it.
After some failed attempts, Racing is optimistic that this time they can secure the 22-year-old player, whose contract runs until December 2026. The coach’s goal is to have him join the team as soon as possible for the preseason in Paraguay.

Ignacio Rodríguez’s performance in the match against Racing in the South, on the 19th matchday of the last Professional League, left a strong impression. In fact, he scored a stunning bicycle kick goal that helped his team overturn the score to a 2-1 victory. Rodríguez scored three goals in the league overall.
Chila Gómez Close to Barracas Central Meanwhile, Chila Gómez is on the verge of joining Barracas Central. The goalkeeper, who completed his loan spell at San Lorenzo and was due to return to Racing, has reached an agreement to be loaned to the club chaired by Matías Tapia (son of Chiqui). If the deal goes through, he will reunite with Rubén Darío Insúa, the coach of Barracas Central, who previously managed him at San Lorenzo.
End of the Saga: Valentín Gómez’s Transfer to Cruzeiro Falls Through
After numerous back-and-forths in negotiations, Valentín Gómez will not be joining Cruzeiro. Pedro Junio, the vice president of the Belo Horizonte club, officially confirmed that the transfer will not happen, stating that the squad is now complete and that they do not intend to sign more players.
The young defender, a standout in Vélez Sarsfield’s championship-winning squad in the Professional League, had expressed his desire to move in talks with Sebastián Domínguez and manager Ricky Álvarez. The two clubs were in advanced negotiations for a deal worth around $9 million for 90% of his rights.
While Cruzeiro’s official said that the decision was due to squad construction reasons, there is likely some frustration on their part due to the prolonged nature of the deal, as Vélez kept changing the terms over time.
This is not the first time Valentín Gómez’s transfer has fallen through at the last moment. In the previous transfer window, the 21-year-old defender came close to joining the City Group and playing on loan at River Plate. However, a meniscal syndrome in his left knee prevented him from passing the medical exam with Italy’s Palermo (one of the City Group’s members), and his transfer was canceled.
Given the player’s level, age, and desire to leave, it is very likely that he will be transferred to another team. He has received interest from European clubs, where he would like to continue his career.
City Group Close to Buying Ramos Mingo: What His New Team Could Be
Another promising young player from Argentine football is closely followed by the City Group. After the failed transfer of Valentín Gómez due to medical issues and the collapse of his move to River, there are now advanced negotiations between Defensa y Justicia and the holding group to acquire a significant portion of Santiago Ramos Mingo’s transfer.
The 23-year-old center-back has had an outstanding season in Florencio Varela, and if the final bureaucratic details are settled, he would be sold for $8 million.
Although the holding group owns several European clubs, including Manchester City, Girona, and Palermo, his initial destination would be Bahia in Brazil. In the next few days, Ramos Mingo is expected to sign a five-year contract, although there is a possibility that he may change clubs ahead of schedule.
Ramos Mingo, who came through Boca Juniors before leaving under controversial circumstances for Barcelona B, has been with Defensa y Justicia since 2023. He has played 70 matches, 57 as a starter, scored four goals, and has become a solid defensive force for the team.
