Racing is going for James? Another “3” that sounds in the Rojo and Pincha protects Ascacibar?

After several days of rumors, it was finally confirmed that midfielder James Rodríguez terminated his contract with Rayo Vallecano and must look for a club for 2025. Among the various options being considered, in the last few hours the possibility of Racing arose, given the departure of Juan Fernando Quintero to América de Cali.

The information is that James would have the priority of continuing his career in European football. Likewise, in case of not finding a club in the Old Continent, Junior de Barranquilla is the team that is already actively negotiating for the native of Cúcuta and they remain optimistic.

Even Banfield made a formal offer to Rodríguez to repatriate him, where they proposed a contractual link until December 2026. But, just hours after the proposal was made public, the talented Colombian midfielder rejected it.

Fuad Char, owner of Junior, spoke with W Radio and gave details of the possible arrival of the number 10: “It is possible that he will come to Barranquilla between today and tomorrow to negotiate. We are quite optimistic. Our management would always be thinking about what he is going to do in the national team, finish the Qualifiers and then the 2026 World Cup. We would like to have him for 18 months to take him to the World Cup in exceptional physical condition, because his technical condition is beyond all concept,” he commented.

Known for his exquisite technique and great hitting, the James Rodríguez seen in Rayo Vallecano was far from being the one who pulls the strings of the Colombian national team. In total, he accumulated only 7 games, six for La Liga and one for the Copa del Rey, totaling just 205 minutes on the field.

Fabrizio Angileri, on Independiente’s radar

In the midst of a transfer market that has Independiente as the protagonist with four additions – Pablo Galdames, Luciano Cabral, Nicolás Freire and Sebastián Valdez, some returns and several open negotiations, the club from Avellanera now set its sights on Fabrizio Angileri, the former left back of Godoy Cruz and River who today has little place in Getafe.

For now, the management of the Rojo contacted the defender from Mendoza and let him know of their interest in repatriating him. In principle, the intention of the footballer is to try to continue in Europe, although if the instances are exhausted, he could reconsider a return to the country. It is worth mentioning that his current situation in Getafe is not the best, with only two games as a starter out of 11 in which he participated.

Aside from the interest in Angileri, the Rojo is also negotiating with Huracán for Walter Mazzanti. In this case, although they reached an agreement with Huachipato for half of his contract, there are still economic differences with Huracán.

Boca is getting away from it: Estudiantes, close to securing Ascacibar

The transfer market seems to want to constantly confront Estudiantes and Boca. While Xeneize is pushing to get Alan Velasco, Pincha is moving forward with the contract renewal of Santiago Ascacibar, a midfielder targeted by Fernando Gago but who seems to be staying in La Plata.

Although Gago contacted the midfielder and let him know that he was interested in having him at Xeneize, the truth is that the Football Council never started negotiations for him. Also, the imminent arrival of Rodrigo Battaglia at Brandsen 805 seems to indicate that the priorities were elsewhere. In any case, alerted by this interest, Estudiantes moved quickly and started conversations to secure and extend the stay of Rusito at the club.

Specifically, the idea of the sports secretary headed by Marcos Angeleri is to offer the midfielder a two-year contract extension to his current contract – which expires in June 2026 – along with a substantial increase in his salary. This would practically result in the player being locked into the La Plata institution.

However, Ascacibar’s desire to return to Europe to get revenge, after stints in Germany and Italy, was present, so the footballer would request to include an exit clause exclusively for abroad.
