Crime in Lomas del Mirador
In the middle of Christmas, a retired officer of the Argentine Federal Police (PFA) shot and killed his neighbor from Lomas del Mirador because he would not lower the volume of the music. The victim was called Sergio David Díaz and was 40 years old.

In the middle of Christmas, a retired officer of the Argentine Federal Police (PFA) shot and killed his neighbor from Lomas del Mirador because he would not lower the volume of the music. The man was called Sergio David Díaz and was 40 years old.
Moreno, declared before the prosecutor of the case and assured that he never had the intention of killing his neighbor. The man lost his life in the regional hospital and all of Lomas del Mirador was in shock because of the crime.
This Thursday, the former officer declared before the prosecutor in charge of the case, Matías Folino of the Fiscal Unit of Thematic Instruction The police officer from the La Matanza Homicide Division said that he was the one carrying the gun, but the shot went off because it was malfunctioning.
“I was the one who shot, but (the gun) went off. I never intended to shoot,” were the murderer’s words. According to the officers who quickly went to arrest Moreno, the man had a .38 caliber revolver in his home.
Witnesses to the crime said that the retired police officer threatened them before the argument. The bus driver of line 109 died a few minutes after the shot at the San Justo Polyclinic.
This Thursday it was learned that Horacio Moreno was arrested by order of prosecutor Matías Folino. The investigation will seek to reveal in depth each of the events that occurred in the early hours of yesterday.
From the beginning, the retired police officer would have confessed that he fired when he felt challenged by the three men, but his lawyer would have recommended another judicial strategy. The attacker was arrested on charges of aggravated homicide with the use of a firearm.
The images recorded by a security camera in the area showed the moment when the attacker crossed the street to approach a house (which also houses a store) where they were still partying. Sergio David Díaz, a bus driver for line 109, was there with friends and family.
“Here the boys were drinking but normally and having fun. He came determined to kill,” said Osvaldo, a relative of the victim.
The argument escalated. Díaz went over to the ex-policeman and punched him three times. At that moment, Moreno pulled out a firearm and fired at least once at the men. “He shot him half a centimeter from the stomach,” said Osvaldo.
The shot entered Díaz’s abdomen, who was rushed to the local hospital, where he eventually died. “My son-in-law took him to the San Justo clinic. He got there and died.”
“His wife is very rude, she laughed and said that it was a bad thing,” the man added.
The Buenos Aires Police arrived at the scene after a call to 911. There they arrested Moreno, who remained at the scene after the incident, and seized the weapon used, a Taurus revolver with empty and intact shells inside. In addition, investigators began to review the security cameras in the area and thus collected film material that captured the altercation.
