From today, the workers of commerce, as well as the entire Morón community, have a library and a literary café in the center of Morón, which was inaugurated by the Union of Commerce Employees of the western zone and which proposes to recover the pleasure of reading. The General Secretary Julio Rubén Ledesma, headed the formal act that gave the opening of this cultural space in Mitre 1020, of that locality, where the Sub Secretariat of Culture will also operate.
The Minister of Labor of the province of Buenos Aires, Walter Correa; the mayor of Morón Lucas Ghi, the former mayor and councilor of the Municipality of Ituzaingó, Alberto Descalzo; Union leaders, authorities from the University of La Matanza, judicial authorities, the Bar Association, FAECYS, and the educational field were present to celebrate the birth of the new space “Hagan Lío” in tribute to Pope Francis.
The day began at 9 in the morning, when Mitre Street between San Martín and Casullo was closed to begin the celebrations with live shows on stage, the performance of the folkloric ballet, batucada, mime and stilts.
With many expectations, the neighbors of the area, delegates, students of the educational institutes that belong to SEOCA, and commercial employees, enjoyed the different activities and the chess game.
“There is one thing that is fundamental for the growth of all workers, the ability to learn: the culture that we have to sow day by day is not only with words but with actions,” Ledesma began by saying before inaugurating the new place, and he affirmed that “both culture and education, we do not see it as an expense but as an investment.”
“This project is born from the heart of the workers, and the idea is that they come to read a book, have a coffee, or use the buffet, and get rid of their cell phone for a moment, which although it is necessary for many things, brings us complications, especially in health,” he said.
“That is why, today with the help of the entire board of directors, we can say that I feel proud with this inauguration, but it will not be the last, because the best is yet to come, which is the completion of the Sanatorio Sagrado Corazón 2,” said the Secretary General of SEOCA, while highlighting the commitment of Armando Cavalieri (Secretary General of FAECYS) and Carlos Pérez (President of OSECAC) “to finish the clinic that will be larger than the one in Capital.”
Meanwhile, the head of the Morón municipality, Lucas Ghi, highlighted the “construction of this reference space in cultural and artistic matters at a time when what is heard is that a service is failing, programs are being closed or public policies are no longer being provided.”
“Today we come to plant a flag and consolidate the idea that another project can be developed, and that this is the way to open this space with the organization of comrades, with investment and political decision,” he said, and pointed out those who “want to impose an agenda” and “disarticulate organized workers.” “Because the union is resisting and they have to dismantle it, otherwise it will be possible to materialize the project for the country that they want,” he said.
Finally, he highlighted the name given to the library in reference to the work of Pope Francis: “This could not be better, because it combines the collective. It is not one by one, it is among all organized, there is no individual way out.”
In the same sense, the Minister of Labor of the province of Buenos Aires, Walter Correa, said that in this political and economic context “I hope we make this mess in favor of the working people.”
“Those who talk about alchemy or consulting the oracle about what unity is, I tell them with great humility: come and be part of the meetings of the workers who flourish there and unity grows every day,” he stressed.
“The union movement was the support of the democratic process in Argentina and when they belittle and undermine democracy, the answer is this: an act of the workers and their union organizations in a collective way in which we organize ourselves” she said and highlighted the importance of SEOCA by saying that “this organization is what it does every day.”
On the other hand, when the Under Secretary of Culture of the Trade Union of the western zone, Mariana Quiroga, was consulted, the area where this new space depends, expressed her satisfaction with the inauguration of this new work that “will benefit not only the merchants, but also the neighbors of the area, who before the opening came with the intention of donating books and supported the initiative.” In addition, she informed that in this place, the cultural and artistic workshops will be carried out as it had been done.
