María José Herrera told the program about the case of her daughter, Camila Cinalli, who disappeared in 2015, at the age of 15, after going out to dinner with her friends. They continue the search and suspect that it is a case of trafficking.

María José is from San Miguel del Monte and continues the intense search for her daughter together with organizations for victims of trafficking and gender violence.

First of all, she said: “We went to file the complaint on Sunday when we saw that she had not returned. She lived with her father. Her friends said that they were together, but after that we heard nothing more.”

“When we filed the complaint, the commissioner told us that she will return, she must have gone with her boyfriend. That we should wait 48 hours,” she continued.

From that moment, on August 29, 2015, the search began, which she described: “We waited, we went to the homes of all her friends and family and she did not appear. Days went by and to this day we have never seen her again.”

“That is how my fight began, with marches and sharing her photo. Only a week later they took my complaint,” said Maria.

“They gave us false clues, so we thought it was a case of trafficking.”

María José continued the story of the events and the search without significant findings or certain clues: “The only information they gave us was that she was supposedly in Tucumán. We went there with a municipal van and it was a false clue, that is why we say that Camila’s disappearance was a case of trafficking.”

She also commented that in the intense search they managed to rescue a girl in Coronel Brandsen, province of Buenos Aires, who was forced into prostitution by her mother and had a child by her stepfather.

Maria said that she was accompanied to these visits by different groups to investigate, such as Mothers of victims of trafficking and Susana Trimarco, mother of Marita Verón and a leader in the fight against trafficking.

“The case was shelved for two years”

Regarding the lack of responses from the Justice, she indicated that “the case was stopped for two years until it was passed to the federal court. There they started all over again with the lines of investigation, but there were no clues.”

When this type of case, such as the Loan case in Corrientes, is passed to the federal court, it refers to investigating a possible case of trafficking, and the federal forces and the justice system at the national level intervene.

“The only thing I know reconstructed were the phone calls with friends and that she crossed the road five blocks from home and ran out of battery.
On the security cameras she was seen walking alone,” were details that Maria added.

“The State is responsible and did not give me any answers”

In the last part of the interview, María José commented that “an organization of relatives contacted us with Viviana Caminos from the Red de Alta a la Trata (RATT). They had never contacted us before”

Together with RATT, she recounted a visit to Parliament: “We went to the Senate on Monday, summoned by Viviana Caminos from RATT. The State does not give us answers to the relatives of victims of trafficking. Nine years are coming up and they did not give any clue as to where my daughter is.”

In turn, María José was accompanied in the interview by Patricia Meneses from Vidas Resilientes, a nationwide organization that brings together victims of gender violence, which promotes support and accompaniment between victims.
