This is how the writer Pablo Cristín expressed himself, who presented his first book “Otras Formas de Perder el Equilibrio”, which contains five different stories that range from various literary genres.
At the beginning of the talk, the interviewee highlighted his beginnings: “I have been writing short stories since I was 16, 17 years old, influenced by Cortázar, which is the short story. Later I had a blog project that lasted about 10 years and in which I sometimes made some texts printed on A4, like fanzines, it was a way to be able to interact with people because I left them in places so that people could take them.”

On how he remained linked to literature in the current times, he revealed that “in the last stage from the pre-pandemic until today I ventured into micro poetry, which are 20-word poems that try to convey a strong message.”
“About a year and a half ago I had the idea of publishing a book, which moved away from micro poetry. ‘Other Ways to Lose Balance’ are 5 independent stories, with different lengths and with stories that hover between the exaggeration of social networks, it also talks about artificial intelligence, there is a variety of content in the five texts,” completed the creator of ‘Other Ways to Lose Balance.
The effort behind the completed work
In the continuation of the talk, Cristín delved into what concerns the planning of the book, from the first creative idea to the pre-sale of the book: “It is the first time that I think like a book. To publish it I contacted Petricor Ediciones and we did it together. We are trying to make a little space for ourselves and not stop doing things, which is the most important thing.”
“Being able to have a book that is made by me is a unique feeling, something that exceeds the screen and that can materialize, it is an accomplished goal that took a lot of effort,” emphasized the writer.
To close this idea, he praised the work done for the sale of the book, which was at a promotional price until November 10, but is now still available for purchase: “The pre-sale of the book was by the publisher, shipments have been made to several provinces and obviously the publisher keeps a percentage of the sales to justify the work done.”
The future of this book and the near future with more stories to tell
In the final part of the interview, he admitted that he will present his book in an unconventional or more relaxed way: “Personally, I do not feel comfortable with the idea of doing a book presentation, perhaps I will do an Instagram live to talk about the book and maybe I will show it in different cultural centers. Although I am looking for ways to accommodate myself so that I can make a presentation.”
Regarding the corrections to his work, he mentioned that “I reread the stories about 40 times and you will always find something to correct, but if one does not dare to publish, it will always remain in the nebula or there will always be something else to correct.”
“For next year, if everything goes well, I plan to publish a book of poetry. In this case, I published a book of narrative because I saw the creative window to do so, but I have been writing poetry for many years,” concluded the interviewee.
