Another vandal attack on a plaza in Libertad: almost all the lights were broken

Mauricio Canosa, again exposed a new and episode of vandalism

Several lamps in the city’s central park were destroyed and the Municipality described the damage as “Tremendous. We will file the corresponding complaint.”

The Secretary of Delegations of the Municipality of Merlo, Mauricio Canosa, again exposed a new and unusual episode of vandalism that occurred during the last few days in the central plaza of the town of Libertad, which is located a few blocks from the Belgrano Sur station of the same name.

The images show how almost all the LED lights that illuminated the green space that is surrounded by the streets Víctor Mercante, Estrada and Zapiola and the Avenida Eva Perón (Provincial Route number 21) were destroyed to take their batteries, leaving the attendees in the dark as a result.

“It was tremendous how they vandalized it. We will be filing the corresponding complaint so that an investigation can begin on the matter,” the official said on his social networks along with a video that shows at least six lights attacked and a piece of rubble with which they would have broken their windows.

The memory of a similar case in Libertad

At the end of July of this year (more precisely on Sunday 7/28), a very similar event happened in the Parque de la Unidad Nacional, popularly known as “Cancha de los Patos”, and it was recorded by one of the security cameras that the municipal government installed there: a group of eight individuals spent their time knocking down multiple lamps without even stealing them.

The recording reflects how those responsible first knocked down one of them and then proceeded to kick it several times to try to turn it off, but as they could not, they continued with others and thus ended up leaving around four on the ground, although fortunately none of them broke completely and they continued to light up.
