Insecurity. Last week’s murder of Brian Coria.

Last week’s murder of Brian Coria, the Buenos Aires City Police agent who was executed in Castelar during an attempted robbery, ended up uncovering a tough fight that had been going on between CABA and the Province of Buenos Aires regarding insecurity in the Conurbano. Finally, the first meeting between the authorities of both jurisdictions took place to try to stop this problem.

The meeting was held after a call from Jorge Macri to Axel Kicillof regarding this issue and also that of other agents of the capital force who had been murdered and assaulted beyond General Paz. Although it was kept somewhat secret, the Noticias Argentinas agency reported that the meeting was headed by the ministers of the City, Waldo Wolff, and of the Province, Javier Alonso.

“We have met with the Security authorities of the Province of Buenos Aires with the commitment to set up a working group to address the problems that the general public suffers from,” Wolff posted on his account on the social network X. Wolff assured that from the City “our entire Security team is working to solve the daily problems that people suffer, regardless of territory, political color or party affiliation.”
Also according to reports, at the summit a program was discussed with a series of points to reinforce the security of police officers, with, for example, an idea of safe corridors in areas such as La Matanza, Lomas de Zamora, Lanús, Morón and Almirante Brown, between late at night and 5 and 8 AM.

Last week, after Coria’s death, in communication with Radio Mitre, Wolff had reported that 70% of the 18 thousand agents of the CABA Police live in the Province: “With the same population, the confrontations increased by 75%,” he assured. “I have been Minister of Security for 13 months and it is noticeable how the reports increase. I receive the relevant news and in 2023 we had one every three days, in 2024 one every two days and so far in 2025 we are having a confrontation per day,” Wolff added.
