The National Administration of Laboratories and Health Institutes “Doctor Carlos Malbrán” made official yesterday morning the first known case of monkeypox in the district of Morón after it was detected at the Municipal Hospital “Ostanciana B. de Lavignolle”, being in turn the second in the West.
It is a patient who had attended the public hospital with fever, rashes, headache and myalgia, among other symptoms that allowed suspecting the presence of the virus. That is why they ordered his isolation at home while he is supervised by doctors, who assured that his evolution is “favorable” and “does not present a risk to life.”
According to the epidemiological investigation, the patient returned to the country from a trip to Bolivia in mid-August, where he could have been infected, and the first signs appeared on the 26th of that month.
Therefore, the State clarified that the Infection Control Committee of the aforementioned local health center is carrying out the monitoring and follow-up of those who could be close contacts of the person who contracted Mpox Clado II during the incubation period of the same.
The symptoms of monkeypox are fever, headache and muscle pain, weakness and inflammation in the lymph nodes and is characterized by the appearance of rashes or rashes on the skin, small blisters with clear or yellowish liquid content or scabs. The lesions are most frequently observed on the face, hands and genitals and can manifest both in isolation and in groups.
