Airbag in Velez. An annual closing that included three consecutive nights with sold-out tickets and an announcement expected for next March. With the unmatched essence that characterizes them, rock is more alive than ever!
For the legendary group, a 2024 of pure whirlwind since they began the year with six shows at the Luna Park Stadium, and then landed on the international tour “Jinetes Cromados Tour”.
As a finishing touch, a triad of presentations that established a key moment for the history of rock with an exhaustive tour of the most celebrated songs of their 20-year career.
The massive pogos on the field were recorded by fans, who celebrated the collective euphoria by sharing the videos on networks. Each show lasted three hours and had a list of different singles.
There were special moments: during the first night, there were the covers of “Have you ever seen the rain” (Creedence) and “Johnny B. Goode” (Chuck Berry), through which Airbag reaffirmed their roots. As for the second night, they had guests: the brothers Chano and Bambi Charpentier from Tan Biónica, who went up on stage to play “Cicatrices”.
Is “El Club de la Pelea” coming up?, the imminent announcement of their eighth studio album (2025) was presented with a countdown and instruments on fire. An infinite contribution to Latin American music.
“Buenos Aires is on fire”
Diario NCO was present on Sunday, December 22, and after 9 pm, Patricio, Guido and Gastón Sardelli went up on stage at the José Amalfitani stadium before an audience of 45 thousand people; including families, children, young people of all ages and fervent rockers.
The stage was colossal: with barbed wire fences, walls of amplifiers and a sculpture of a huge skull on top of the central platform. Amidst fireworks, the trio opened the show with “Anarquía en Buenos Aires”, their latest song released in early December, which proposes a chaotic stage in the darkest part of the city.
With an aesthetic project inspired by classic hard rock bands like Guns N’ Roses and AC/DC, the brothers’ chemistry delighted listeners with strident guitars and a frenetic cadence, thus creating an atmosphere full of mysticism.
In pure ecstasy, the group performed a series of power tracks: “Jinetes cromos”, “Vivamos el momento” and “Nunca lo olvides”, with Pato and Guido exchanging the lead vocals.
Between thanks and costume changes, Guido shook the audience with the first chords of “Revolución” and then gave way to one of the most celebrated songs, “Noches de insomnio”.
“Que seguir vivo el memoria”
The human tide had no rest, incessant and with flags, from one side to the other, to celebrate a popular Argentine band that has long since earned a place of recognition and prestige on the national scene.
The evening continued its course with emblematic singles full of surprises: “Motor Enfermedad”, with Frankenstein on screen; “Otoño del 82”, with a heartfelt tribute to the veterans of the Malvinas War and “Perdido” where the life of Diego Armando Maradona was glorified through a compilation of his best goals.
Halfway through the set list, the lights went out and the musicians appeared with their guitars hanging and skull masks, ready to tear everything down with a crushing interpretation of “Huracán.”
Their knowing winks reflect a familiar magnetic harmony, which generates vocal, expressive (Patricio) and instrumental (Guido and Gastón) brilliance. They shined with “Cae el sol,” “Bajos íntimos” and “Cuchillos.” After toasting with a glass of whiskey, Pato dedicated “Por mil noches” to the entire audience.
“Es mi manera de vivir”
The Sardellis saved an epic closing for a tour that lasted three years and attacked with a seguidilla al palo: “Colombiana,” “Diamante,” “Kalashnikov,” “Solo aquí,” “Mi sentir” and “Va a ser difícil olvidar.”
Verses in chorus from the crowd and moments that will remain perpetuated in the collective memory.
Thanks to the contributions of those present, the charity toy drive with the “Fundación Sí” was successful. Thousands of gifts were collected and distributed so that they reach children during the holidays.
Remember that this year they will be part of the 25th edition of the legendary “Cosquín Rock”, and news is also expected about a tour to present the new album.
