This is how the councilor of FITU, Juan Romero, expressed himself about how the projects presented by his party in the La Matanza City Council (HCD) have not been considered by the ruling party.
At the beginning of the conversation, the councilor emphasized, “Our projects have been presented within a context of a series of differences, but there is respect for the position each one holds. We will have a session on Thursday, which will be the last one. We were the block that presented the most ordinance projects.”
At the same time, he called for more fairness when making decisions in the municipal chamber: “It’s okay to take positions, but the main role of the HCD should be to legislate. Our projects were materialized, but they were shelved by the ruling party, which systematically uses its majority to do so.”
“All of our projects have been aimed at improving the situation of workers in the district, whether it’s in healthcare, education, or in relation to the housing problem, which has been put on hold recently because there are more overwhelming issues to address,” added the FITU leader.
“The only ordinance of our authorship that was approved was the environmental one”
Referring to the work of the left-wing party, which currently has two councilors, he stated, “The only ordinance of our authorship that was approved was the environmental one, which regulates agrochemicals. It has been enacted but has not been implemented. There are measures that the traditional forces only approve for convenience or marketing purposes.”
“I’ve been very meticulous in the budget meetings, many times they avoid the questions we ask, they don’t respond, for example, when a specific amount of money is under-executed,” the interviewee added.
In the same line, he harshly criticized the Municipality, accusing it of “fudging” the budgets: “Beyond the technicalities, the budget defines the central policy of the one who governs, where and why the funds will be allocated. The numbers are underestimated, they’ve already received three times more money than what they budgeted. This is done systematically in the Municipality because they want to redirect resources at their discretion.”
They will be part of the next “Matanzazo”
In the final part of the conversation, Romero revealed, “We will be part of the Matanzazo with the Polo Obrero, with organizations we haven’t been working with, but we believe that in the face of a struggle against the government of Milei, which is starving the people, we understand that it’s necessary.”
“We can’t wait for an electoral solution. Today, the situation of how to make it to the end of the year is becoming more desperate for more people in the country. As long as there is a plan for struggle, we’ll be there,” concluded the FITU leader.
