Imagine sitting quietly at home and learning that the person who killed your brother could be released after a hearing to which you weren’t notified. That’s what happened to the family of Leandro, the bus driver on line 620 who was shot and killed during an argument with a passenger over his refusal to pay the fare.

“There was a request from their lawyers. At the first hearing, which was last week, neither we nor our lawyer were not notified. He found out through the courtroom that there was a hearing and it could have been canceled, but it’s finally going to be held virtually this Friday,” the driver’s sister began.
Tomorrow, at 10 a.m., the meeting will be held at the Civil Liability Prosecutor’s Office No. 2 in San Justo, located on Jujuy and Malabia Streets. The bus driver’s family is urging everyone to mobilize so they can put pressure on the judge in charge of the case so he can reconsider his decision.
In 2018, Victor López Brizuela, the perpetrator of the Alcaraz murder, was 17 years old and just days away from reaching the age of majority. A year later, the Juvenile Criminal Responsibility Court of the La Matanza Judicial Department found him guilty of the murder, charging him with “aggravated homicide by treachery and the use of a firearm in conjunction with robbery qualified by the use of a firearm,” and he received a 14-year prison sentence.
This year, his lawyer is requesting his release, and Gisele Alcaraz, the driver’s sister, said that this is being done to take him to Paraguay, arguing that he was a minor when he was imprisoned: “There is a law that allows him to be released: first, because he was a minor at the time, and second, because there is an agreement between Argentina and Paraguay. We are asking that he not be released because he has to serve his sentence; it’s 14 years, and we know that if he leaves, he can enter the country at any time.”
On the other hand, when asked if they know when the verdict will be given, they respond that they are not sure, as it could be just the hearing tomorrow or it could be final. However, she affirmed that “if it doesn’t come out in our favor, we will appeal and continue fighting.”
Finally, the family of the murdered bus driver asks for everyone’s support and support, as Leandro was just like any of us. They ask the judges in the case and those who summoned him to the hearing to put their hands on their hearts and consider what they are going to do, as they are destroying and ruining a family and a child, the driver’s daughter. His sister regrets having to re-emerge from the same situation they thought they had closed and understands that it is not easy for her family to go through the moment they are going through.
“The border between Argentina and Paraguay is a sieve.”
The main request of the attacker’s lawyer is his release so he can be taken to the neighboring country, citing the minor’s rights at the time. “They want us to believe he was a minor, but he was 17, almost an adult. Even my 13-year-old son knows he can’t go out with a gun and kill; he was 17,” the interviewee stated in an interview with No te Duermas.
This request comes hand in hand with the fact that what they want to do with Victor López Brizuela is to reintegrate him into Paraguayan society. However, Gisele’s point is that a person who has no blood, who is a hitman and a criminal who kills by treachery, cannot return to society, especially if he has a family just like him. What she’s referring to is that the attacker’s mother has a stolen cell phone, and his stepfather had a gun to sell that was used to kill Leandro.
She also referred to the attacker’s family and mentioned that they are in Argentina with their two daughters, so it seems strange to her that they want to take him to Paraguay. Because of this, she explained that “the border is a sieve. That’s our fear, having him in Argentina again.”
