“People who voted for Milei did not expect this level of adjustment, he said that the caste was going to pay for it”

No Te Duermas spoke with Jorge Lampa, councilor of the Cambiemos La Matanza block, about the economic measures of the current government

Regarding the current situation of retirees, Jorge stated that “it draws a lot of attention because there are even legislators from the labor movement who either abstain or do not go down to the chamber to give quorum. It is very difficult, isn’t it? But well, I believe, as I said at the beginning, society is being a spectator of this starving model that when we are in the elections next year I want to see what they are dressing up as to go and ask for the vote, right? What are they going to propose? Because two days ago I heard the Minister of Economy say that to see the first growth it will take several months. What does several months mean? Several months or many months”

He also added: “They are not clear either. I read a campaign that in April in Argentina we were going to be collecting in dollars. And not only are we not collecting in dollars, but from the first day with that brutal devaluation of 118% we plunged 6,800,000 Argentines into poverty.

They take over a government, take office with 45.5% poverty and take it to 55% in one day. And not to mention the level of poverty that retirees are suffering today. If the average basic basket is above 800,000 pesos, we have grandparents who are with the bonus included at 274,000 pesos.”

The controversy between Macri and his people voting in Congress

“Well, talk about them, right? What you don’t come back from in politics is the ridiculous.
I think about this, about how you say, that the senators approve the retirement mobility law, and then the leader of that sector supports the president’s veto, it’s like they are showing that there is a confusion and a lack of sensitivity.”

“Why does this same man who claims to lead the destiny of the PRO, one day go to a FIFA congress, when the country requires other solutions. Not to go for a walk in Switzerland. Well, but this political space is submerged in these terminals today, which is not all of us,” argued Lampa.

On the other hand, he said that “the MAD is a project that they are doing, they are bringing together wills that have different views on this economic model.
The table is round, it has no head. Horacio Larreta is joining as one more. There is radicalism, there is classic Peronism, there are developmentalists.”

“The issue is how you propose a model of government. Then the candidate will go for the addition, for the weight, for the agreements that can be reached. Not this type of agreement, which is currently being carried out by this government, which is run by three people: Milei, Santiago Caputo and his sister. A government that is very weak is unviable.
Because people, including those who voted for Milei, did not expect this level of adjustment that they were going to pay for, because he said that the caste was going to pay for it.”

Adjustments that affect retirees, workers and SMEs

“That light at the end of the tunnel that they told me about at the beginning, I do not see. I see a closed tunnel, with a wall that we are going to crash into head on. But not only that,
in 10 months of management, 10,000 SMEs have already closed. 7 out of 10 jobs are generated by SMEs. Renault and Nissan in Córdoba are working half-days so as not to lay off people. But there is no production because there is no sales.

The councillor spoke about his SME: “I was paying 480,000 pesos for electricity up until 3 months ago. And yesterday I received the bill for the month of August, which is 1,830,000 pesos.
The same thing happens at my home, where I live here in Luzuriaga. I used to pay 30,000 pesos for electricity, and now I pay 80,000, and this month I got 193,000 pesos for electricity here in Luzuriaga. It is not feasible to sustain an economic model like this. Everyone is talking about it, but well, “54% voted for it.” We were also voted for when we won in 2015 by the people, and in 2019 we had to go home.”

“Do you know what makes me angry and what is worse? They tell you that the effort you are making is worth it. You cannot get out of poverty. They created 6,800,000 poor people. And there are a million children, UNICEF has already said this, not a political group, that a million children go to bed without dinner every day. That is very sad. There is no greater impact than that. But they tell you that your effort will be worth it. When? I heard María Eugenia Vidal yesterday in Entre Ríos say the same thing. Now I felt ashamed of myself,” she remarked.

“A person who stopped walking the poor province after we made her governor and became a candidate in the City of Buenos Aires. She had said that “my dear people from Buenos Aires, I will accompany you, I will never abandon you.”
I would invite her to walk in La Matanza, I pay a small fee, so she can see how they eat stir-fry or how the grandparents do it. I was visiting the retirement center “Abrazando el Amor” a few days ago. And an old man said to me, “How much are you earning?” And with the minimum wage, 274 thousand pesos. But I have 145 thousand pesos of medicine.
